Realife Vision 2010

What an amazing day at the James River Campus Realife for Vision 2010. We started off with awesome worship right at 10. Kevin Moore from Oneighty was the opening session speaker and spoke excellently about the Biggies of Youth Ministry, although if I may take the liberty I would say it would be the Biggies for any ministry.
You are not the hero...serve your senior pastor...be yourself, those are just a couple of the Biggies. The Biggies felt like great reminders that just need to be posted, so when you start to feel like you have to do it all or that you are better than what you are asked to do, you have a little God note to humble you...
He definitely challenged me in making sure that priorities in ministry are focused on God and serving my leaders and leading students, but to remain humble.  We then had our breakaway sessions, which of course Jamie Bell made sure that the WCC Realife people were first for some free Qdoba lunch.  We then played a fun game of four square at which Dean Ferguson moved fluidly from team to team, and enjoyed watching some arm wrestling (maybe). Then we blessed to listen Pastor Scotty's passion for the new vision or focus on prayer.  His heart was full of the vision that God placed there...
Prayer is not a new thing at Realife, we have always had pre-service prayer on Wednesday nights and before Sunday night service.  We have had early morning prayer the week of outreaches. Prayer is not a new thing, but it will be more emphasized and taught throughly... Leaders will be mentoring students more on prayer... Leaders lives will be changed with this year of prayer, students lives will be changed, families will be changed.
After listening to Scotty, we had the opportunity to break down into small groups and discuss questions about how we can help our students with this prayer focus... what challenges are facing them and how can we help them...
It was awesome to hear other leaders hearts, knowledge, and passion about the students and following God's heart.
We gathered together again for groups to share their thoughts and sing another worship song.
It was an amazing, refreshing, great day on rainy day...
